I can see from the menu on the right side that I've been less than a little active on the blog front with two posts the last two months. I guess after Ethiopia I felt like I didn't have much excitement to share!
But now, at last I have some exciting news: I've passed all my exams and papers and can call myself a certified nurse :) I incredible happy to be done with school, exams and practical studies, but at the same time I don't feel qualified at all to take the role, but I guess most newly graduated nurses feel something somewhat the same. I haven't developed any strong desire after my practicals in the hospital to continue working there. There is so much desk work and organizing, and not so much what I would think of as nursing. But I have learned a few skills I'm sure will be very useful if I make it to a remote tribal location in the future! For now I've applied for a few jobs as a nurse in the fall (mostly in nursing homes) and I've got a summer job lined up for June and July at my old workplace with the county.
In a few days I'll be heading to England to North Cotes for a week, to visit with friends and relatives and enjoy the summer conference. Can't wait to see all the people there again :)
As for the future a lot of new exciting plans are starting to form and develop. During my time in Ethiopia I was spending time praying about where God would have me serve in the future. In the end I landed on a country in South East Asia, and decided to contact them and see if doors would be opened there. After filling out a bunch of paperwork and talking with the leadership with NTM there over Skype, I've been officially invited to join the work there. It's probably a far way off still, but its really exciting to see what the future might hold :) On top of that, the bible group I'm a part of in Ålesund (that we are hoping in time will develop into a functioning new testament church) has decided they would like to be my sending entity, which is really exciting and encouraging. It's a wonderful group of people with a heart for God's work among the unreached, and I could wish for no other people to partner with :)
As for the immediate future, I'm in preparation for a loooong bike trip with my friend Nathalie in July. I'm trying to get in shape so she doesn't leave me behind on some remote mountain top ;)
