Kopi luwak and a bird

The other day my mom brought an injured bird home. A kid had found it at the daycare center where she works. It was dragging one of its wings and one of its eyes was all closed up. We kept it in a small cage and fed it sunflower seeds, bread and decided to see what would happen. It ate a lot, and completely mended in just a few days. After a few escape attempts, it was obvious that it was ready to go home and share all its adventures with its bird-mates. Yesterday my mom was able to release it at work along with the kids that had found it injured on the ground. It immediately flew up on the roof of the daycare and joined its friends and family. Now the challenge will be going back to eating the oh-not-so-luxurious foods of its past!

Talking about luxuries..last Sunday I got the opportunity to try the worlds supposedly best quality coffee. It goes through a rather interesting life-cycle, if you could call it that, before it ends up in your cup. A tiny, cat-like animal that lives in countries like the Philippines and Indonesia, eats coffee beans for a living, poops them out..and you can figure out the rest yourself. Somehow their stomach enzymes work wonders on the beans, and viola you have yourself the worlds most exclusive coffee! Despite the manufacturing process, Pål was obviously enjoying his cup!
