Arrived!

We finally arrived late in the night yesterday, or I guess actually really early today :) After a bit of drama in Istanbul, we made it on to our plane in the last minute. The flights were fine and we actually got some pretty good food. We were met at the airport by Birikit, which is a lady we already met in Norway, and she fixed us up with a van for the guesthouse. Our bags were transported on the roof, and of course there were no seatbelts. The guesthouse is quite nice, I've got my own room and bathroom and its clean and the people who run it are really nice and helpful. Right now I'm using the internet at the big hotel next door, where we got ourselves a deal where we can use the internet if we buy a drink or something. I have hot water and a toilet that flushes, at least for now. One of the guys at the guesthouse asked if everything was okay with the bathroom, which means it probably will be a problem eventually! We'll see.

So far I've been really disappointed with the coffee, its so extremely strong and almost doesn't taste like coffee at all. So hopefully tomorrow we'll go to Kaldis which is the Ethiopian equivalent of starbucks, and try my luck there :)
Right outside our guesthouse people are living in sheds (laga av bølgeblikk), but even though the houses look horrible, they look nice and clean and many of them wear western clothing. And the kids are really cute :) We went driving all around town today trying to find SIM cards, a supermarked and a restaurant, and I'm sure we've been about everywhere! We even went by the Hilton hotel, the largest one in Addis and checked out the pool facilities for future use, and its also one of the only places we can find an ATM. At the supermarked they have about everything I was told on the internet I could not find here, so thats good. I've gotten soap for washing my clothes and a wash line, so I'm all set :)
The weather is really nice and sunny, about 25 degrees, and you feel the sunny really frying, I guess cause we're over 2000 m over sea-level.
Tomorrow we are meeting someone to go look at some projects, I think one orphanage and something else. I don't think we really know what we will see till we're there.
