Today my church made rice cooked in bamboo (in coconut milk and spices!!) to raise money for their christmas party in december. I came along to "help" :) I don't know if I helped much, but I got to learn how to cook rice in bamboo over a fire, which is a skill that surely must come in handy at some point in my life ;)
Lemongrass
She made lunch for everyone
Making coconut milk, but squeezing and resqueezing the coconut meat
Then you strain it
Filling the bamboo with rice and coconut milk
Cooking them over (or it was more like next to) the fire made from coconut shells, for around 3 hours
Then you cut it open (more easily said than done ;) and...
...voila!! there's your rice. Yummy!!!
