Certificate of health

Today I went to a local health center to get a certificate of health to get a new drivers lisence (my old one had expired). That turned in to be quite an experience! I expected a quick blood-pressure measuring and maybe an eyesight check, but no...it ended up being quite a sightseeing of the building as I went from office to office carrying a form that was gradually filled in by at least ten different people.
First thing I was handed a cup and told to produce a urine sample, then a finger-prick blood test, weigh, height, blood-pressure, listening to the heartbeat. In in end I was declared healthy in body and spirit (!) to drive. (And believe me you have to be sure of the afterlife to dare venture into traffic in this town!).
Thankfully a friend came with me to help guide me from office to office and translate if needed :) And on top of it all I've added three different words for urine sample to my indo vocab, so I must say it was a fruitful event, language- and culturewise, hehe.
(And they didn't check my eyes, which explains all the crazy drivers in town, maybe they actually ARE blind!)

One of the first anti-smoking ads I've seen "if you have to smoke, smoke alone". This country has an insane amount of advertisement for different sigaret brands, huge billboards on every street. Since the western world discovered smoking will actually kill you and banned advertisement, the big companies have moved all their efforts down here to south east asia. I think I read that somewhere around 70% of all men here smoke and they start very young. (very few women though).
