One of the hard things to get used to here (and one of the downsides of living in the tropics) is all the bugs! Being from Norway I'm hardly used to any of our nature being "alive", and here everywhere you go there's something crawling around!
I'm not too bothered with ants and small spiders and stuff (as longs as they're not in my bed!), but the ants here don't just stay outside the house, they are actually trying to invade the place! If you leave anything food related on the kitchen counters, it will be covered in ants in minutes. And we're talking at least 3 or 4 kinds of ants! Then there are the cockroaches and the scorpions (I've only seen a very few of these), the lizards (I kinda like them, but they still make me jump when they come running down the wall!) and the rats (I've thankfully only seen one, and it was far far from my house). And then there are the mosquitoes and gigantic wasps. Shall I go on?
Can you even believe I have survived 2 weeks here?! :) No, really, its been fine, just don't tell any of my siblings about this post, or none of them will ever come visit. I mean it. Check out this conversation between two of them that my sister posted on facebook ;) ;) Hilarious!

Some funky bugs I've found
Lizards!
This was a spider that some of my co-workers had living right outside their house. They asked the neighbor to get rid of it, and he apparantly thought it would make for a great photo to stick it on his face. He was right!
Still haven't seen any snakes though...maybe I shouldn't have said that..
