Today I went hiking with some friends up a volcano called Mt. Merbabu. 3145 meters. It hasn't erupted since the 1790s, so we figured it was pretty safe.. ;)
It was five hours of straight uphill hiking and climbing, steep as nothing, stop every 30 meters to catch your breath kinda- hiking. People had been telling me that you need 7-10 hours to the top, so we were pretty encouraged when it only took 5!
Before and after the climb though, we also did some insane motorcycling going up some crazy steep and bumpy roads. I had to get off the back and walk a few times because the bike just couldn't get up with 2 people on it! We just made it back down the mountain before it got completely dark and started to rain, score!
I'll be posting pictures when I get some good ones off one of my friends, but here's one to start you off:
Now I'm gonna head to bed and try to regain some much needed energy for tomorrow. The neighborhood isn't exactly quiet as there is a horse dance going on yet again (see earlier post), so bring on the ear plugs!
